When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden one of the consequences was that all women were supposedly cursed by God to endure great pain when giving birth to Children. We see in Genesis 3:16 that God said “I will make your pains in childbearing very severe; with painful labor you will give birth to children. greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain, you will give birth to children”. Our God never says anything without purpose and even though mothers were cursed to go through pains in childbearing, God was establishing an amazing covenant with all mothers in the Garden of Eden.
Most mothers would say that it was worth the pain of child labor to bring their children into this world. The bond that mothers share with their children is something special and it was something that was put in place by God. Psalm 139:13 says “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.” God put you together in your mother’s womb and had a purpose for you even before you were born. God uses mothers as vessels to bring his children into this world.
Isaiah 66:13 says, “As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you.” This verse talks about the love and the comforting nature of mothers and compares it to the way God comforts us. Mothers everywhere have a special purpose to love and nurture and comfort their children. If you are lucky enough to have a loving mother in your life then you know all the things they have done for you. A mother’s love is like no other. They will give their all to make sure their children are okay. If you grew up with a mother that was God-fearing and always put their trust in God then you know that they have prayed for you every step of the way. Mothers are unconditional in their love for their children.
God himself chose a mother to bring into this world the savior Jesus Christ. You learn from the bible that Jesus loved his mother a great deal. Mary considered herself blessed to be a vessel of God to carry the son of God himself in her womb. Jesus and Mary shared a special bond and Mary loved Jesus and took care of him just like any loving mother takes care of their children. On mothers day let us celebrate all the awesome god-fearing mothers that took care of us and made us who we are today. Remember that God has also instructed us to honor them and take care of them when they get older. Happy Mothers Day to all mothers everywhere!
