If you live on this Earth then one thing is guaranteed, You will be faced with different challenges in this life. As Christians, these challenges can come in multiple forms in our lives and what we do when faced with these challenges reveal how much trust and faith we put in our God. Proverbs 3:5 says “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding”. When we are faced with trials and challenges in our life do we put our trust in God and lean on him or do we try to do things according to our own understanding?
The entire Bible is filled with examples of people putting their trust in God when faced with challenges in their life or when all seemed lost. When Abraham was asked to sacrifice his own son, he put his trust in God and God made him the father of all nations. When Joseph was betrayed by his brothers and sold as a slave, he put his trust in God and God made him second only to Pharoah. When Moses and the Israelites were cornered at the Red sea with the Egyptian soldiers in pursuit, Moses put his trust in God and God opened up the Red sea. When Daniel and his friends were thrown into the fiery pit, they put their trust in God, and they were not harmed by the fire. There are countless other examples of people like David, Rahab, Job, Ruth, Joshua, Gideon, Paul, Peter, John, etc people who put their trust in God when faced with challenges in life and God never let them down.
Psalm 28:7 says “The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me” This should be our attitude when faced with challenges in our life. If God is our strength and shield then what do we have to fear? So often when faced with troubles in this life we tend to forget about God and just focus on the problem at hand instead. The Bible says in James 1:2 “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.” As Christians, one thing is guaranteed there will be trials and challenges in this life but this is exactly what allows us to start trusting God more in these situations, The more we lean on God the stronger our faith becomes over time.
Jesus said in John 16:33 “In the world, you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” Jesus himself tells us that challenges, trials, and tribulations are guaranteed in this world but he also provides us the solution which is just to trust in him. Jesus has overcome the world and everything in this so why shouldn’t we put out trust and our faith in Jesus? Philippians 4:6-7 says “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” This is the blueprint for what to do when faced with challenges in our life, we need to put our trust in God and with prayer and supplication we come to God and believe in him. When we start doing this during the tough times in our life we will not only increase our faith in God but also our trust in him.
