future

God holds your future!

The dictionary defines the word future as “the time or a period of time following the moment of speaking or writing; time regarded as still to come.” Most of us do not know what is yet to come in the future and we largely hope that the future turns out the way we want.  The only person who knows what will happen in our future is God. The Bible says that God knows everything that will happen from the beginning to the end. Ecclesiastes 3:11 says “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart, yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” From this verse, it is clear that God controls time and He knows everything that will happen including what is in our future.

A lot of us worry about the future because we are not sure of what is yet to come. This causes a lot of fear and anxiety because of the fear of the unknown. As Christians, we can be assured that God is in control of our future and everything happens according to his plans. Proverbs  19:21 says “Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” When we worry about the future it is mostly because we try to analyze what will happen in the future on our own. We need to approach the future with the mindset that God is in control and He will make sure that what is best for us will happen in the future.  This does not mean that what we want out of the future will come to fruition but the will of God for our future will come to pass. Once we accept this fact then we can face the future with a completely different mindset.

In Matthew 6:34  Jesus says ” Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Jesus here is saying to leave tomorrow into God’s hands. Take care of what we have to do today.  Do not worry about the future because the present day has enough things already that we need to take care of first. For those who trust in Jesus the future is already in his hands and we just need to enter into the future trusting that He will take care of everything.

The Bible says in Romans 8:38-39For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” This is the key when thinking about the future nothing can separate us from the love of God, so no matter what happens in the future God is always with us.

When Adam and Eve sinned and all of mankind was doomed to eternal separation, God already had a future plan in mind to save us from that fate by sending Jesus Christ as the redeemer for our sins. He already put a plan into action in the future even before Adam and Eve had sinned, knowing what was going to happen. He already knows the future and can change our future as he sees fit to accomplish his plan for humanity. There is no concept of time for God. He is beyond time and space. He is the beginning and He is the end of everything that happens in this universe.  Revelation 22:13 says “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”He is the be-all and end-all of all existence. Nothing happens in the past, present, or future without God’s knowledge.

God holds your future. No matter what happened in your past, you can still look forward to the future expecting the best because God comes before your future.  There is no future, past, or present without God. The Bible says in Colossians 1:17 “He is before all things, and in him, all things hold together.” God knows what is coming in your future and He can change your future destiny because He is in control of your future. The only thing we need to do is to walk in the plan that God has for our lives and completely trust in God’s plan for our future. We can face whatever comes in the future without any fear or anxiety knowing that our God goes before us into the future and prepares the way for us.
