faithfulness

Great is thy faithfulness!

The dictionary defines the word ‘faithful” as “remaining loyal and steadfast”. If you were to judge people in your life by this definition you will find very few who fit that definition. The Bible often describes God as being faithful. It is God’s nature to be faithful. He is not like human beings whose faithfulness can be questioned at times when faced with dicey situations. God is faithful to us in each and every situation in our lives.

Lamentations 3:22-24 says “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “therefore I will hope in him.” If you think about this verse carefully you will notice how true this statement is in our lives. God’s mercies never come to an end, they are new every morning we wake up. Every day we are faced with trials and challenges and obstacles in our lives and how many times if you look back at your lives will you see God’s deliverance in your lives? Even waking up every day and seeing a new day is a gift from God.

Psalm 139:1-4 says “You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. 4 Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely.” The Bible says that God knows everything about our lives and he is with us in every moment. So every moment we are on Earth is due to his Grace and faithfulness.

In a world where people question each other’s faithfulness all the time, isn’t it an amazing feeling to know that we have a God that is always faithful to us at every waking moment of our lives? Even if everyone else in this world abandons us or forsakes us, God is always with us till the very end. That is his promise. Romans 8:38-39 says “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” So next time you are faced with questions about who can you trust in this world remember that God is always there and he is always faithful to us. Bible says in Romans 8:31 “If God is for us, who can be against us?” If you have the God of the universe on your side then I would say you are in good hands.
