Is staying single part of God’s plan?

When God created Adam, He realized that there was no suitable companion for him, so He created Eve. It says in Genesis 2:18: The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” It goes on to say in Genesis 2:21-24: So the Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” That is why a man leaves his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh”

This is where the concept of marriage was started. Adam and Eve were the first couple in the Bible. Ever since then men and women have been looking for suitable partners. It is a general notion that when you reach a certain age you become eligible for marriage and you should get married and settle down.

But what happens when you don’t get married and remain single? Do you question God’s plan for your life? If you are single right now, just know that God has a reason for you to stay single at the moment. Find out what God wants you to do while you are still single. Does He want you to do something for his kingdom now while you are still single? Does He want you to use your talents and abilities in a way that can glorify Him and help others? God’s plan is unique to your situation. He has a different plan for those who are single and for those who are married.

If you are single and you really want a life partner, then pray to God for one. God does listen to our prayers. We have all heard stories of people finding love in the most unexpected of ways. Maybe it was just God bringing people together in His own amazing way.

If God wants you to get married then sooner or later it will happen. You don’t need to have a ring on your finger or have a life partner to enjoy God’s plan for your life. Marriage by itself should never define your happiness. Only a relationship with God can do that. 1 Corinthians 7:17 says “Each person should live as a believer in whatever situation the Lord has assigned to them, just as God has called”.  Until then whether you are single or married just keep trusting in God’s plan for your life.

God Bless!
