battle

The battle belongs to the Lord

The bible is filled with stories of God showing up to fight the battle on behalf of his people. When The Egyptians came after Moses and the Israelites God fought on behalf of the Israelites by trapping the Egyptians and destroying them in the red sea. Exodus 14:14  Moses said to his people The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”

When the enemies of Judah came together to fight against them, God made their enemies fight against each other and destroy themselves so his people were safe. God told them not to worry though Jahaziel in 2 Chronicles 20:15And he said, “Listen, all you of Judah and you inhabitants of Jerusalem, and you, King Jehoshaphat! Thus says the Lord to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.”

God helped Gideon defeat the Midianite army that outnumbered them 450 to 1. Judges 7:7 “The Lord spoke to Gideon. He said, “With the help of the 300 men who lapped up the water I will save you. I will hand the Midianites over to you. Let all the other men go home.”

God helped David defeat the mighty giant Goliath. In 1 Samuel 17:45 David said to Goliath, “You are coming to fight against me with a sword, a spear, and a javelin. But I’m coming against you in the name of the Lord who rules overall. He is the God of the armies of Israel. He’s the one you have dared to fight against.” David went on to kill Goliath with just 1 stone.

We can go on and on about many other stories in the bible about God fighting the battle for his people. The main point here is that we have a God who is ready to fight our battles for us. We only need to put our trust in him. Paul says in 2 Corinthians 10:3-5 “I do live in the world. But I don’t fight my battles the way the people of the world do.  The weapons I fight with are not the weapons the world uses. In fact, it is just the opposite. My weapons have the power of God to destroy the camps of the enemy.  I destroy every claim and every reason that keeps people from knowing God. I keep every thought under control in order to make it obey Christ.

Whether we like it or not as long as we live in this world we will always be in some kind of battle. By ourselves, we cannot do anything but with God on our side we can take on any battle in our life and come out victorious. The only thing to keep in mind is that the battle you want to win is something God wants for you to win also. If it is something you must overcome to walk in God’s plan for your life then make no mistake God will be in the midst of the battle on your behalf. You only need to put your faith and trust in him.

When God gives you the victory over that which God wants you to overcome then make sure to thank him for that victory. 1 Corinthians 15:57 says But let us give thanks to God! He gives us the victory because of what our Lord Jesus Christ has done. We all struggle and fight battles in this life. Any battle that needs to be overcome for the Glory of God will be possible if we put our faith in God. After all, if God is for us then who can be against us?
