The Genesis account talks about the creation of man. Genesis 1:27-28 says” So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.  God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.” We see that God created man in his own likeness and gave him dominion over the whole Earth. The purpose of mankind initially was to live on Earth, multiply, live in harmony with God and experience his love. That all changed when Adam and Eve sinned and changed the course of mankind forever.

God out of His mercy and grace still provided a way for sinful man to be in a relationship with him through his son Jesus Christ. Romans 5:8 says “But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” In John 3:16 it says “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” We see that one of the primary reasons for God wanting to save us is that He loves us. God is love and his primary nature is to love everything that He created. The main reason that God created us is so that He can show us his love.

1 John 3:1 says ” See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.” God created us as his children so that He can love us and lavish his love upon us. What human parent does not love their own children? Yet no parent on Earth can love us like God loves those He created as his own children. How great must be his love for us that He should give His one and only son to die on the cross for our sins? The ultimate sacrifice was paid on the cross so that he can shower his love upon us for all eternity. God can always exist without humans loving him, but human beings can never exist without God’s love. That is the only reason that we were created so that we can experience God’s love. Our sin has separated us from God but his love for us is so great that He gave us Jesus Christ so that we can be united with Him again as God’s own children. If you exist on this Earth as a human being there can be only one reason and that is to be loved by God. Isn’t that amazing?
